I live in Cornelius and have observed the death and decay of Portland since I moved here from Cali with my ex-wife and kids in 2001. I'm still living here and love the area. The PNW is a naturally beautiful area and the population of wacko leftists is beguiling. I will say that everyday I run across many people who are pro America, more so than the anti America fools. Hi Diane, former neighbor, lol. We live near west linn in the other wealthy neighborhood nearby. I’m sure you know the name of this town. I can relate deeply to your feelings. My saving grace is my workplace where the majority are conservative, and my church. Portland is a hell hole that has not recovered from the summer of love. Such an ugly time, portrayed as a mostly peaceful protest. Our little street has stuck together I believe because we were invested in each other before the hate and trump derangement syndrome hit, followed by the deep fear of Covid created by the media and manipulation of statistics. We can’t wait to move. Our children are finishing up high school. One is already indoctrinated. 🥲 I’m glad you got out, I look forward to doing the same. I love the west coast but it’s been stolen by insane liberals. The governors are in lockstep. I wish you happiness in your new community and hope we find ours.

I live in a town called Vallejo, CA. The town has deteriorated from a lovely bedtoom community in 1959, to a gangster run town where there are shootings and robberies, side shows by gang members and individuals; they terrorize citizens in broad daylight, rob stores, literally by baskets full. The liberal law here forbids Mom and Pop shop shops and chain store owners to do nothing. Home Depot is always getting robbed. My husband and I witnessed two people running toward their car with a basket, one with an arm full of clothes at Kohl’s one evening, yet again, liberal law provides them no recourse. We don’t feel safe when running errands as they yank people from their cars. Shoot at us from a side street, need I say more?
We survive by praying for safety and trusting God to keep us safe as we go about or ministry and lives. Fear begets fear, but the Bible tells us that “God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love and a sound mind”, so we believe it and try to live life every day as normal as possible.
The next time I hear a Liberal Politician or Talking Head speak of the "Rule of Law" I think I'll puke on their ergonomically correct footwear. Evil works in a strange way, it takes advantage of peoples fears of change and differences to create prejudice hatred. In the U.S. for a period of time it was Whites of European descent hated, or were hated by other people of color, Black, Latino, Asian, and so on. In the Middle East, it was Muslims hating the different sects of the Nation of Islam, and of course the Jews and Christians. Ireland was interesting with the hatred between Protestants and Catholics, never could figure out if they were both naked in a room how anyone would know who's who. The point is Evil will take advantage of any crack in differences.
In the U.S., being the melting pot that it is, years of work of understanding was making great headway, especially with a government that was run under a document of sense, the Constitution. We improved life for all through Freedoms, and the ability to create a level playing field for opportunity of all. We had become the "Land of Milk and Honey," a destination dreamed of by those under tyrannical rule lacking freedoms. This upset the apple cart of the Powerful, you can't have the peasants rising up to believe they can rule. Oh, you can talk of such things, things like, "Any person can grow up to be President, or anything they want to be." What is true in politics, you can raise to the positions as long as it is approved by the Powerful, and it comes with strings. Oopsy, enter Donald J. Trump, and crash, over goes the apple cart. Oh, oh, a person that can be crass and egotistical, but works in the name of the "Peasants." This just can't be, he could expose the fraud of the Powerful, something must be done. Remember, always follow the Power, Money, and who has the most to lose when exposed to the light of truth. Hence, the growth of BLM, Antifa, relaxation of Law and Order, the demonization of Law Enforcement, and you have to have a Boogeyman to blame, the choice of the participating MSM, President Trump.
The MSM knows most people will not take the time or effort it takes to research information for validity, so they can sell anything to mushy minds, and they have. They've played on the field provided by Evil and created the hatred. The only problem, it's coming back to bite them as truth is starting to prevail. Still the weak-minded Liberals have fallen for it (not all Liberals). The question will be if the weak-minded Liberals will ever catch on and be able to return to just being liberal with a difference of opinion, which we all know can be okay, it's part of being free. Don't give up Freedom, it is the hardest thing to ever get back.
