Liberals Spew Hatred Toward Their Neighbors

In recent years Americans have been flooding out of blue jurisdictions in record numbers.  It isn’t ONLY because of high crime and high taxes.  Sometimes these émigrés are escaping the hatred.

This writer and her husband bought an empty lot in the upscale suburb of West Linn (Portland, Oregon) in 1986, built our dream house and moved into it in 1988. The political ideology of our new neighbors never entered our minds.  And we witnessed no animosity between neighbors.  Fast forward to 2020.  The hatred was so intense, we could no longer live in our beautiful burb nor in the state.  As we determined where to move, the political ideology of the new neighborhood was foremost in our thoughts.  We didn’t want to live around people who supported political violence and spewed hatred for their fellow Americans.

We made the right choice.* As the Portland area continues to decline, we are still in contact with neighbors and colleagues we left behind, who tell us Liberals there have increased their hatred and nastiness since Biden arrived in the Oval Office.  Liberals are working harder to ostracize and eradicate Oregonians who don’t believe in Liberal/Progressive/Marxist orthodoxy, who disagree with woke ideology, and/or support the Bill of Rights.   

THIS explains the email I received last month from the man we lived next door to for 32 years.  We had always had cordial relations with him and his wife; but, he couldn’t hold back his mindless Liberal hatred when he read one of my Substack articles: 

 “Really?  What kind of moron actually believes this crap.  This is the stuff of white supremacists, hillbillies, rednecks, people who are just plain stupid or all of the above. “America First American”… what a misnomer…you don’t have a clue about what that means!”

WHAT HAPPENED SINCE 1988?

As the years rolled on, Democrats increased their control of Oregon, especially in the Portland Metro Area.  By the mid-1990s Democrats were so confident that they were in control that it was no longer safe for residents to post GOP yard signs.  Liberal goons drove through the neighborhoods at night stealing yard signs, and sometimes spray painting the houses.  Your car was sure to be keyed if it sported a GOP bumper sticker or one that had a “conservative” message such as Pro Life.  

The political violence became official in 2007 when Democrats created their enforcement arm, the domestic terrorist group named “Antifa.”  It is not a coincidence that Portland gave birth to this modern-day KKK to terrorize citizens who disagreed with their Liberal policies.  Since then, Antifa** cells have sprung up in virtually every major city where Democrat machines have long reigned, but Portland still has the biggest gang.

Although Antifa rioted periodically in downtown Portland, suburban residents hardly noticed.  In 2014 these thugs were joined by Black Lives Matter terrorists and stepped up the frequency and intensity of the violence.  We learned to stay out of downtown Portland after dark.  With some exceptions, these rioters were ne’er-do-wells with criminal records.  THAT changed after the 2016 presidential election.

TRUMP’S WIN DROVE “NORMAL” LIBERALS INSANE

This writer first became aware that previously sane colleagues & neighbors had joined the BLM/Antifa riots when I attended an evening event, just days after Trump was sworn in.  Attendees were all attorneys who practiced law in the same county as myself.  Everyone voiced hatred toward Trump voters, calling them “creatures,” “uneducated,” “hicks,” and too stupid to be allowed to vote.  They claimed that Trump voters all lived in “backward” states.  Nebraska and Mississippi were mentioned.

I listened in amazement.  To a person, each claimed they had never met a Trump voter.  This, despite the fact that Trump received 46% of the vote in our county.  Apparently, these arrogant jackasses never talk to their neighbors.  One older woman, who said she had participated in the Portland riots continuously since November, told us how to protect our skin from police tear gas. I was gobsmacked and molly whopped.  Were they putting me on?

These attorneys knew they wouldn’t be disbarred for rioting because the Oregon State Bar hated Trump. [Two attorneys were arrested & charged in 2020 for vandalizing the Federal Courthouse in Portland. They still have their law licenses.]  This naïve attorney wasn’t aware that writing an Op-Ed about this bizarre event would result in the Bar’s attempt to disbar me.  At that point, I still thought Americans had freedom of speech. Here is my Op-Ed published in the Oregonian newspaper and later read on the Lars Larson Radio Show. Lars called it “a brilliant essay.” The death threats poured in, but the “good for you for speaking out” FAR outnumbered them.   

HATRED INCREASED THROUGHOUT TRUMP’S PRESIDENCY

The hatred only got worse as the months rolled on.  It seemed every Democrat I knew was blind with hate for President Trump and for everyone they perceived as supporting him or his policies.  As Trump’s policies kicked in, Trump haters and Trump lovers alike ALL benefited from the increased wages, decreased unemployment, soaring stock market, energy independence, to name just a few.  The stagnant economy under Bush and Obama ended, yet Liberals were so blinded by hate they pretended not to notice.  They benefited from Trump’s policies, but still hated the man and his supporters.    

While practicing law, I rarely talked politics with my clients, BUT that didn’t prevent my clients from freely expressing themselves.  I heard stories about Trump voters being harassed by co-workers.  Some supervisors refused to intervene claiming Trump voters deserved it.  Some employers adopted new personnel policies in order to keep peace in their workplace: DON’T TALK POLITICS AT WORK. 

School counselors encouraged children to “turn in” their Trump-supporting parents for “abuse.”  Savvy students quickly learned how to get good grades: criticize Trump in class and in their homework assignments.  If the student expressed support for Trump in class he/she would be insulted by the teacher, called names. 

Shortly before my retirement in January 2020 this attorney handled a divorce that was caused by the couple’s political divide.  According to my client, his wife felt she had to divorce him to save her career.  She was an attorney at a large Portland law firm that donated to Clinton’s campaign AND required their employees to donate as well.  Her supervisor found out that her husband had voted for Trump, so she knew she would never be promoted and might even be laid off as long as she stayed married to him.  By early 2018, the Oregon State Bar, owned by the Hard Left, was threatening to disbar attorneys who voiced support for President Trump.

IS THERE ANYONE OR ANYTHING LIBERALS DON’T HATE?

It seems there is no limit to Liberal hatred.  They hate free speech, freedom of the press, the free exercise of religion, freedom to choose one’s own associates, the right to self-defense and equal enforcement of the law.  In short, Liberals hate the Bill of Rights and those who believe in it.  Liberals hate police, hate faithful Christians, hate Conservatives, hate Republicans, hate voters who vote differently than they do, hate free thinkers, hate those who don’t live as they do, hate rural Americans, the list is endless.  It would be easier to make a list of what Liberals DO like.

LONG ON LIFE SUPPORT, THE RULE OF LAW FINALLY DIED IN 2020

Oregon’s governor,*** Portland’s mayor, Multnomah (Portland) County’s district attorney, all Far Left Democrats, not only allowed the 2020 BLM/Antifa riots to continue night after night FOR MONTHS, they cheered them on.  Even the stabbing of a BLACK journalist by a WHITE convicted pedophile, caught on video, didn’t concern the DA. As the journalist struggled for his life in a local hospital, the thug was bailed out and quickly & quietly plead guilty to harassment, a minor misdemeanor with no jail time.

When we returned from our vacation in the gorgeous Black Hills of South Dakota in July 2020 we discovered that the terrorists were driving through our burb, just blocks from our home, throwing objects at pedestrians and screaming “die whitey, die.”  Our burb’s city council told local police to stand down and allowed them to intimidate residents.  After all, even though 99% of the rioters were pasty white, they were “fighting for social justice” for people “of color.”  To arrest them would be “racist.”

That was the proverbial last straw for us.  Besides concerns for our safety, we could no longer live in a place so full of hatred.  It was depressing.  The worst part was the fact the some of the neighbors on our very street were promoting the violence, sporting BLM flags & signs, calling their neighbors the standard hateful names.   

We began the process of moving and preparing our house for sale.  Before we could actually escape, our city council adopted the BLM, Inc. Marxist agenda right off their website.

WITH THEIR MAN IN THE OVAL OFFICE, HAS HATRED DECREASED?

This writer expected Liberals’ hatred to decrease with their man in the White House.  Nope!  In 2022 they seem more bitter than when Trump was in office.  Yes, they gloated and strutted for a while after the 2020 election.  But, as Biden’s failures mount, their hatred toward fellow Americans is building again, as evidenced by the hate-filled email from our former neighbor.  They won’t be satisfied until 45% of Americans, those who support Trump’s policies, have been kicked out of the voting booth and/or imprisoned.      

*We now live most of the year in a small beach community in Washington State. Yes, Washington State is run by Marxist, Hate-America Democrats, but we are far enough away from the Seattle Area that Liberals here are not mean & nasty.  The rest of the year finds us in the gorgeous Black Hills of South Dakota.  The Liberals in both communities are still sane and voice little hatred & bitterness.
