Democrat Voters Are Missing The “Cause & Effect” Gene

Since the 1970s Americans have noticed that, when Liberals move from Blue to Red areas, it doesn’t take too long before their new states, counties, cities & towns begin to look & feel a lot like the places they left behind.  Sometimes this decline is rapid and sometimes it is rather slow, much like the poor frog which is put in cold water then slowly boiled to death.  The more Liberals move into a Red jurisdiction, the faster it turns into a Blue mess.

Signs & bumper stickers with this message were seen all over Oregon in the 70s & 80s because so many Californians had moved to Oregon that it was starting to deteriorate. By the 90s Democrats had taken over and such signs were prohibited.*

This American has noticed this intriguing phenomenon for decades but couldn’t quite figure out what Liberals had that Conservatives didn’t, or vice versa.  THEN, it finally came to me: Liberals are not capable of discerning cause and effect, that THIS action caused THAT result when it comes to political & societal issues. For example, they can discern that smoking causes cancer, but are unable to figure out that giving drug addicts cash causes more drug use. Yes, they will admit that drinking & driving is dangerous, but won’t admit that releasing a murder defendant is also dangerous. The more Leftist indoctrination they have been exposed to, the faster their “cause & effect” gene shrivels up and dies.

This may partially explain why Liberals lack logic.  Emotions override any reasoning that may be deep inside their thought processes.  Even highly educated Liberals have trouble controlling their emotions when a “conservative” idea enters their ears and/or they lose a debate. I believe this is a serious disability for which they should seek a doctor’s care.  Would they qualify under the Americans With Disabilities Act to obtain a handicap sticker for their car? Here is just one infamous example that epitomizes too many Liberals:

“CAUSE & EFFECT” BECOMES EASIER TO DISCERN OVER TIME

Politicians & bureaucrats try to hide the bad results of their policies from the public; however, sometimes the results are just too obvious to miss.  I will name just eight of the thousands of “causes & effects” that Liberals are blind to.

1)      BLM riots in Sioux Falls, SD lasted two nights BECAUSE the governor sent in the National Guard.

2)      BLM riots in Portland, OR lasted five months BECAUSE the governor did NOT send in the National Guard.**  

3)      Violent crime & all crime in all Democrat-run major cities has skyrocketed in recent years BECAUSE they defunded police AND prosecutors stopped prosecuting.

4)      Fentanyl deaths are at all time highs BECAUSE the Southern Border is wide open to drug traffickers. 

5)      Price of gasoline tripled BECAUSE Biden shut down drilling on federal lands, canceled Keystone Pipeline, tightened regulations and increased taxes on oil & gas production.

6)      Cost of energy is the highest in history BECAUSE Biden enacted new EPA regulations closing coal-powered plants that make electricity, cancelled drilling contracts, et al. See No. 5 above.

7)      Americans are suffering with massive inflation BECAUSE Biden increased cost of energy and printed & pumped massive amounts of money into the economy.

8)      About 9 million illegal aliens have walked, run, swam, drove across America’s southern border since 1/20/21 BECAUSE Biden threw open “America’s Southern door” on Day One, invited them in, told them they would be allowed to stay and taxpayers would support them.

WHY DO CITIES & TOWNS CHANGE WHEN LIBERALS MOVE IN?

The average blue-state Democrat is incapable of discerning “cause & effect.”  THIS is why, after escaping a city that Liberal policies have turned into a hellhole, they immediately begin the process of turning their new surroundings into the same nightmare by voting for politicians who promote the same tired policies that ruined their former digs. 

Late summer 2018 a nice middle-aged couple moved across the street from us in West Linn, an upscale suburb of Portland, Oregon.  They were SO HAPPY to escape San Francisco where they had both lived their entire lives, telling me they could no longer stand the crime, filth, high taxes, drugs, homelessness, bad schools, corruption, et al.  They said they were desperate to get their younger daughter out of there.  In May, as their older daughter was graduating from high school, they put their SF house on the market, found jobs in the Portland area and bought a bigger house for far less money than the sale price of their SF house.  They were thrilled to get out of SF and to find the house on our street.  They talked my ear off. 

This couple thought West Linn and Portland were wonderful.  As I was listening, I felt sorry for them.  I knew that Portland and its burbs were barely 10 years behind SF & burbs in their decline.  There were signs everywhere that Portland & West Linn were falling into the same cesspool.  In the previous decade West Linn had received many new residents, too many from Blue areas, thus accelerating its deterioration.  Even we, who expected to live the rest of our lives in the dream house we had built in 1988, were planning to escape after I retired. However, I just didn't have the heart to tell them.  Indeed, barely two years after this couple’s arrival, West Linn’s city council virtually invited the Black Lives Matter rioters in, and quickly caved to their Marxist demands.** 

Well, you guessed it!!!!  During the 2020 election, this couple’s front yard sported a Biden/Harris sign.  This couple probably voted for the BLM candidates who ran for city council and county commission, too.  OBVIOUSLY, they were lacking the “cause & effect” gene.

MOVE IN, TAKE OVER

Too many Liberals, once they move, take a look around their new neighborhoods & towns and say to themselves “these people don’t live right, I need to show them how.”  Liberals view themselves as superior to other Americans.  Don’t believe me?  Just, ask them.  They proceed to get themselves into government decision-making positions either through election, appointment and/or volunteerism.

Here is part of an email I received from a Liberal who recently moved from West Linn, a burb of the Democrat-run cesspool otherwise known as the Portland Metro Area:   

“I now live very happily on the coast in a lovely home with ocean views and within walking distance of the beach.  I’m a Board member of the XXXX County Citizens Review Board and a Board member of the state CRB.”

She just couldn’t leave well enough alone in her new neighborhood.  This pattern is repeated over, and over, and over.  Both Liberals and Conservatives flee from jurisdictions that have been decimated by asinine Liberal/Woke/Hate-filled policies, but there is a genetic difference between them.  Conservatives possess the “live & let live” gene, so they have no interest in changing their new towns.

*When I say such signs & bumper stickers were “prohibited” I did not mean that Democrats passed a law against it. All such signs on the streets were removed by the government. Sporting such bumper stickers was the quickest way to get one’s car vandalized.

**The BLM/Antifa riots have decreased in frequency and intensity, but continue periodically to this day.
