According to the Edison Research exit poll, 65 percent of American Indians voted for Trump, while 57 percent of whites voted for a Trump 47 Administration. I believe this is the highest percentage that Trump/Vance received from any racial group.
KEEPING NATIVE AMERICANS IN POVERTY
American Indians thought sovereignty meant they could make their own decisions about what they wanted to do on their own land. The last two Democrat administrations stabbed Native Americans in the back, so that could be the main reason they voted so heavily for Trump 47. Democrats pretend to be champions of Indians, but they don’t want them to do what they want on their own land.
At the end of the Obama Administration, the Bureau of Indian Affairs informed the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation, in southwestern Washington State, that federal law prohibits the building of a distillery on tribal grounds. Congress and Trump 45 legalized distilleries on reservations in January 2019.
Not only is the Biden/Harris Regime blocking development of fossil fuels on Indian land, it’s ironically trying to ram through wind and solar projects over objections from the American Indian community. The Biden/Harris Regime repeatedly put up regulatory roadblocks to American Indian tribes that rely on fossil-fuel production for revenues. Tribes facing some of the worst poverty in the country, lacking indoor plumbing and electricity, are residing on land with fortunes worth of oil and natural gas, coal reserves, uranium.
In the key state of North Carolina, Trump pledged to award full federal recognition to the Lumbee Tribe in that state. On Election Day, that community came out for Trump. As polls closed, tribal members in Robeson County had spoken: Trump, won 63.3 percent of the vote in the county, where the Lumbee tribe has its headquarters. Trump increased his win in Robeson County by more than 4 points compared to 2020.
HOW DID RESERVATION INDIANS VOTE?
Comparing 2016’s election map with 2024’s, fewer Native Americans voted for the Democrat presidential candidate and more voted for Trump. The federal government has jurisdiction over reservations, not the various state governments; thus, it could be said that these Americans are wards of the federal government. Enrolled tribal members are not required to live on reservations, however.
By comparing the 2024 election map to reservation maps in these nine states where the reservations are large enough to be seen on state maps, I came up with the following information. NOTE: Some reservations make up only part of a county, or cross county lines so, whether the county is red or blue, it contains votes from Americans other than reservation residents.
Of the eleven Indian Reservations in Minnesota only one went blue this election year. Perhaps the Native Americans in Maoist Tim Walz’s state have reached their limit living under his insane, oppressive policies.
Almost half of Oklahoma’s land mass are Indian Reservations, yet not one of these counties voted majority blue this election year. Indeed, Oklahoma State was red in 2016 and is still red in 2024, the only state to be all red. Utah has two reservations, both red.
Except for one county, all of Nebraska is red including the three Indian Reservations. Wyoming’s one reservation is red. Of Idaho’s four reservations, three are red.
All three blue counties in South Dakota are Indian Reservations. I note the other six Indian Reservations in SD voted red in 2024, the same as in 2016. The two blue counties in North Dakota are Indian Reservations. I note the other three Indian Reservations in ND are red. Three of the blue counties in Montana are Indian Reservations. I note the other four Indian Reservations in MT are red.
Must be driving Pocahontas crazy.
WOW. Thanks for a truly eye-opening article. I had never thought about any of this; I knew nothing of the Native American voting in Minnesota, for example, and I live there. It seems to me that Republicans must get off their ivory towers, find out how to appeal to members of the Democrats' coalition, and dismantle that coalition step by step. I discuss this coalition that keeps Democrats forever in office here: There's nothing crazy about the Democrats' agenda: https://daveziffer.substack.com/p/theres-nothing-crazy-about-the-democrats
