For a guy ostensibly worried about “muh democracy,” he sure issues alot of EO rejecting its every premise.

Diane: Have been curious about this point for a long time: How was it that Washington only ended up with 29% Federal Land while Oregon has 53%?? They began as the Oregon Territory, and Oregon split off as a state first (1859) while Washington didn't achieve statehood until 1889 (30 years later!). Did it have something to do with that? With all it's military preserves (Oregon has virtually none), 3 National Parks to Oregon's 1 and the Forest Service virtually beginning there with Gifford Pinchot, it would seem that Washington ought to have a much higher percentage of Federal Land than Oregon. But instead it's just the reverse of what my limited knowledge of history would seem to suggest. How did that happen?? My only guess would be that E. Washington perhaps has a higher percentage of usable agricultural land than Oregon so more of it went into private farms? Seems like a very significant difference (29 v 53) to me however. Do you have any clue to that??

Good question, Willy. Sorry I missed this earlier. I have spent 90% of my life in Washington & Oregon, but never noticed this. One of your remarks, however, is wrong. Oregon has a lot of farmland in the east and south. When you say "private farms" are you talking about "family farms" and not corporation farms? Diane

My point about the farmable land was that, during the existence of the Homestead Act, people could make a homestead claim on Federal Land. So one guess about the disparity of Fed. vs. private land in OR vs WA would be that there was more appealing land to claim in WA, so more Fed land got converted to private ownership. IF you look at a vegetation map, or even a satellite photo of the 2 states (which of course only roughly correlates with suitability for farming), Oregon has that huge quarter in the SE that is mostly desert or savannah at best. And the NE quarter has a LOT of mountains compared with either SE or NE WA. Just guessing. But I'm wondering how the heck slightly over ½ of Oregon never got claimed by anyone so remains in Federal hands vs only slightly over ¼ of Washington is in Federal hands, even with 3 National Parks, all the military reservations, etc., etc..

Willy: WOW! You have really studied this. Your conclusion may be correct as regards to the Homestead Act. Have you read my recent article about "Natural Asset Companies?" If NACs ever are allowed, Oregon property rights will be wiped out before Washington's. BTW, look for an article I will be publishing shortly about Oregon land. Diane

Global socialism is on a roll, and way too many Republicans still think the Democrats are just the same old "New Deal" folks! Private property is the basis for a nation that wants to have limited government. If we lose the rights associated with private ownership of property, the game is over!

Little do we know what other totalitarian schemes have been hatched in Washington’s dark corners by Democrats and their unelected, unaccountable Deep State collaborators. Fortunately, I’m an old fart who won’t live to suffer in the communist gulag Biden and Obama are building with their mountain of new rules and regulations. I pity my children and their offspring. Now it’s their fight for liberty and freedom.

I feel the same way. We saw the best of America: we missed the Depression, WWII, but will hopefully be gone before America collapse, I am sure we don't know half of their schemes.

Because of "people" like you the economy is actually shit. I'm guessing that you exist on public.

regulations are required in order to keep our water clean. and our air breathable. A quarter of Americans live with polluted air, with people of color and those in Western states disproportionately affected, go ahead move into a neighborhood near a mine. move into cancer alley. without regulations our planet is sunk. Bidens going after particulates. YEAH.

The only particulates o'biden goes after are the imaginary ones. The same imaginary injustices you so greatly profit from. Move to Bangladesh if you're such an "environmental warrior". They have a need for soft Leftists like yourself to clean up their country.
