“The moderators were obnoxious,” declared Brit Hume, long time now retired journalist for ABC & Fox. A TV pundit said something like this: “The questions were designed to trigger Vance and to help Walz. Vance did not rise to the bait. It was a good night for Vance.”
DEBATE WINNER: PETE BUTTIGIEG
The man who pretends to be the Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, was busy helping Tim Walz with his debate prep when he should have been on the ground where Hurricane Helene ravaged millions of acres and killed 160 people. Pete must have done a great job because Tampon Tim was able to recite key talking points throughout the evening and did not lose his temper. Now we know why millions of Americans have been stranded, without water, without communications, without roads & bridges since Friday. Prep debate over, will Pete now return to his day job?
It is unclear if We The People learned much about Harris/Walz’s foreign policy ideas, as war rages in the Middle East. We certainly learned nothing about Harris/Walz’s plans to rescue our economy from the nightmare created by Biden/Harris. We did learn that Harris/Walz would continue to import ever more foreign nationals and will do nothing to help Americans who are suffering in areas inundated with Biden/Harris’s “newcomers.”
CALM, COOL JD & SWEATY, NERVOUS TIM
By my count Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan, the CBS moderators, “fact checked” or argued with JD eight or nine times, but allowed Tim to lie dozens of times. They broke their own rule wherein they said they would not fact check either candidate.
There were two strange remarks coming from Tim that gave away his nervousness: When discussing how we need to take away Americans’ Second Amendment Rights, Tim said “he has become friends with school shooters.” Surely he meant to say that he has become friends with school shooting parents.
When asked about the lies he has been telling for years about his 1989 trip to China (he often bragged that he was in Hong Kong when the Tiananmen Square slaughter happened, travel records place him in Nebraska) he rambled on using up his time without answering the question. When O’Donnell asked it again, his answer made no sense.
JD MISSED SEVERAL CHANCES
There were several times throughout the evening that the moderators or Tim spoke falsehoods, but JD did not correct them. This left me wondering 1) was he not aware of the truth, or 2) did he ignore the lies because it did not fit into his debate strategy? But, he should not have ignored the biggest lie:
O’Donnell asked a question about the 2020 presidential election, claiming that 62 judges had “looked at the evidence” and found nothing wrong. In fact, NO court “looked at the evidence” because every court that was asked to LOOK at the evidence, REFUSED. They used various excuses, but most claimed the plaintiffs did not have standing. I believe fear of retribution by Democrats was the reason why some judges did not want to get involved in the contentious 2020 election. Likely, many judges dismissed the cases for partisan reasons: had the political parties been reversed, they would have wanted to help Biden win.
Three years and eleven months after the 2020 election the evidence of massive, systemic fraud is everywhere. I wonder if these judges are ashamed or embarrassed. Regardless, JD could have and should corrected her lie. He blew it!
I think JD Vance could have given Tinananmen Tim a bit more push back, but I think overall JD Vance did a good job in explaining his views on policy and defending himself. Great job, Diane.
Please allow me to suggest that some of our comments here, about JD Vance, are a little harsh, considering debate styles of every kind require you to think on your feet, since you know you’re going to be attacked from every possible direction; you just don’t know which direction, since the moderators are unpredictable and none of us critics-no matter how supportive we are of the Trump-Vance ticket-has ever had to step into this volatile environment. We’re the audience at a boxing match, telling the boxer how to fight; even the boxer has regrets of not taking a missed opportunity to wipe out his/her opponent. The unless we’ve been in that ring, we have no idea how to relate to JD Vance🇺🇸
