Isn't it unconstitutional? The Washington Constitution say the legislature is to provide for an elected Sheriff. It says nothing about certification, etc. This is an opinion on the matter from the Attorney General's office from 1961:
Sadly, the State of Washington legislature storms on with obviously unconstitutional legislation. 40 years of partisan judicial appointments by Dem governors has made it almost impossible to challenge bad legislation in the courts. This is increasingly a one-party authoritarian state with few options for property and small business owners but to flee. The Dem’s appetite for power and the money to pay for their beliefs has overwhelmed any sense of humility and restraint.
The government is driving the exodus of small businesses and conservative families which only reduces the ability to constrain the ruling party.
I fear we are steadily being hollowed out.
In the aviation business, we call this a political/economic “flat spin”. There is no longer any way to lift the wings of this machine to avoid the consequences. It is only a matter of time.
That left coast has turned totally Marxist except for a few. Total ridiculous.
They all need to be elected and never appointed!!
