Amusing Dialogue With A Confused Man
A month ago, I published an article complaining that I have been unable to have a discussion with a Liberal without him/her getting mad or name-calling. I was able to have a discussion of sorts wherein this Liberal’s insults were minimal, so I “listened*” while he explained how America would not exist were it not for Liberalism. Patrick’s ideas will leave you scratching your head in bewilderment that any American could be so brainwashed. Enjoy!!!
Patrick: I’m tired of “liberal” being used as an insult. Liberalism gave you inalienable rights. Liberalism gave you free speech. Liberalism gave you freedom of religion. Liberalism gave you the separation of church and state.
Diane: The Declaration of Independence gave us inalienable rights. The US Constitution & Bill of Rights were created by our Founding Fathers to ensure that Americans enjoyed such rights, including Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, separation of church & state, et al.
Patrick: Liberalism gave you the US Constitution.
Diane: Our Founding Fathers gave us the Declaration of Independence and our precious US Constitution, including the Bill of Rights.
Patrick: Liberalism gave you the vote.
Diane: The US Constitution & its amendments gave each adult citizen the right to vote.
Patrick: Liberalism gives you civil rights.
Diane: The US Constitution gave each & every American the civil rights that are NOT enjoyed by citizens of most other countries. I have lived under a dictatorship, so I know whereof I speak.
Patrick: Liberalism gave you equality.
Diane: The US Constitution provides checks on power, gave us equality and promised us a just & fair future IF the greedy & power mad among us don’t destroy it.
Patrick: Liberalism brings you law and order.
Diane: So, that is why Democrat-run cities have the highest murder rates?
Patrick: Liberalism gave you empathy.
Diane: The nurturing received when one is very young creates empathy.
Patrick: Liberalism gave you a strong military to defend all of this.
Diane: Beginning with Carter, every Democrat president has weakened the military and every Republican president has strengthened the military.
Patrick: Liberalism fights for good education.
Diane: Democrat Jimmy Carter established the US Department of Education and the quality of education has decreased continually ever since.
Patrick: Liberalism gave you the roads you drive on.
Diane: Historians have noted that, starting after the Civil War, Republicans pushed for more and better infrastructure, including roads, in order to improve commerce between and within the states. Early in his presidency, GOP President Dwight D. Eisenhower pushed for legislation to build an interstate highway system. This resulted in the National Interstate & Defense Highways Act of 1956.
Patrick: Liberalism is the enemy of tyrants.
Diane: Liberalism is the stepping stone to tyranny, which is why Americans’ civil rights have been increasingly trampled upon as Liberals, Progressives & Marxists gain ever more power.
Patrick: Liberalism checks the greed and racism of Republicans.
Diane: This is, perhaps, the biggest delusion of all since 1) it has long been the Democrats who take more & more money from working people for their own benefit and 2) Republicans freed the slaves and promoted civil rights for them while Democrats created the KKK, Jim Crow laws and fought against civil rights for black Americans for a century.
Patrick: Liberalism built the United States of America.
Diane: The strength, ingenuity & work ethic of the American people, guided by our constitution, built America into the envy of the world before Liberalism started tearing our nation & our society apart.
Patrick: Liberalism gave you “woke,” my favorite word.
Diane: Yes! Finally, you are correct, Patrick! Woke is not only destroying the next generation, it is promoting violence & hatred.
Patrick complained that “liberal” is used as an insult. Allow me to explain why: The damage wrought by Liberal policies has gotten SO OBVIOUS and SO DESTRUCTIVE that even everyday Liberals are FINALLY waking up & standing up against it.
I have never met Patrick, but I know he is in his late 60s or early 70s and lives in a Midwestern state. Given his age, he went to school when students were taught about the US Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and various facts about America’s founding. Apparently, Liberalism has so damaged Patrick’s brain that he has lost his memory. Sad.

Well there's a problem with the word "Liberal(-ism)": The movement that motivated our Founding Fathers, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution WAS "liberalism". The best way to think of it from today's perspective is as "Classical Liberalism." The problem with today's "Liberals" is that they've discarded all the legitimate natural law and human rights ideas that form the foundation of Classical Liberalism and appropriated the word (typical progressive language change!) for this "woke" progressivism that wants to relieve every individual of the RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES that necessarily accompany the RIGHTS that Classical Liberalism recognizes us as endowed with. A properly created, classical liberal republic like ours depends on those responsibilities and duties to maintain a functioning social order. So let's not get too hung up on the word. I agree, as the "Liberals" (maybe better, "progressives"?) use it today, "Liberalism" is bankrupt and is destroying the edifice of Western Civilization so fast that the work of 2000 years could vanish in a few decades!
