Diane: What do you make of this "hands-off" posture of local law enforcement in this situation?? Every story I've seen about this Springfield disaster says that local law enforcement is doing nothing "because the Biden admin. has granted the Haitians immunity." But that has to be a lie doesn't it? My admittedly rudimentary understanding of Constitutional law tells me that in the realm of public health and safety those "police powers" are reserved to the various States. Correct? The Feds have the exclusive power to regulate the border and their entry, but once resident in a State, it seems to me that they're subject to the same laws as everyone else in that state are they not? The President cannot pardon them for State crimes, so how can he make them "Immune?" Would enjoy your legal perspective on that question. Looks to me like a recall of the local Sheriff might be something to take up!!
Two things come to mind: 1) Local police are told to leave the Haitians alone because the Feds are pouring MILLION AND MILLIONS into the hands of the city commission, and 2) Any policeman who enforces the law against a Haitian will be called racist and lose his job. Even today, Harris called the complaining American residents liars.
