Back in the horse and buggy whip days when Newt Gingrich was Speaker of the House, he fought but failed to have the federal government upgrade and modernize government computer systems to improve efficiency. Hopefully, Elon Musk will have more success with President Trump's support than did Newt with President Bill Clinton in charge.

Tucker interviewed Vivek on this topic in the last couple days. Structural Changes.

Civil servants aren't particularly civil, and they hardly consider themselves to be servants of the public either. They pressure prison guards to mistreat alleged tax-evaders particularly harshly, as the fairly recently released Walt Anderson can confirm. Their career protections emerged after President James Garfield was assassinated. That prompted Washington D.C. to want to reduce pressure on newly elected presidents to hire so-called "outsiders" who claimed to deserve gubmint jobs in exchange for their electoral support.

Awh, you are a student of presidential history! However, would you agree that the federal government did not begin to truly grow until the Wilson Administration AND the 13th Amendment?

You're most likely right about that, Diane, judging from the rigor of your typical posts here. If only we knew what multivitamins, minerals, diet and exercise routines you recommend, so we could try to keep up with you. :-) But back to federal bureaucracy growth, it's been said that much growth happened when Eleanor Roosevelt lived in the White House. She reportedly used the federal gubmint as a jobs-creator for a particular nonwhite ethnic group. To this day the USPS postal monopoly reportedly continues following that hiring pattern. But the USA's $36 trillion dollar federal debt is getting increasingly hard to ignore. Meanwhile Social Security and Medicare are insolvent. DHL used to be a publicly owned mail service, apparently. It became privatized though. And yet the USPS keeps seeking (and getting) federal bailouts for pensions, etc. Thanks Eleanor...

Ooops! I meant 16th Amendment which gave the federal government the right to steal our earnings. Yep, Eleanor is said to be the second female prez.

Who was the 1st female U.S. president? Sallie Hemmings? She apparently traveled the world with Tommy. And that might not have been an easy task, since he reportedly never returned to Washington D.C. (from Charlottesville, Va. or elsewhere) during his post-presidential 2 decades of additional life. He must have been unhappy in D.C. and she might have accompanied him there, too, helping him complete his presidential term.

Nope! Edith Wilson after Woodrow had a massive stroke in October 1919. He was bedridden and had trouble speaking. She hid his condition from cabinet, House, Senate until February. They eventually demanded to see him. He got a little better and planned to run for a third term in 2020. Democrat bigwigs disagreed and he did not get the nomination at their convention.

Yes, let’s move part or all of each agency out of D.C.

I was just reading another article about Elon buying Fox News. I can't verify it.

Our Capitol needs to be removed from DC. DC sits on foreign soil.

I read a blaring opinion piece titled “The Recession of 2025 Will Be Backdated,” by Jeffrey A. Tucker. He prophesied that Trump is going to be fighting a losing battle when it comes to economic recovery. He compares Reagan’s “plea to congress for patience” in 1982 and how it took four years to turn the economy around. Tucker ends with “Maybe I’m wrong. I hope so. But from what I’m looking at, I don’t see how a frank acknowledgement of current conditions can be put off for another year.” Apparently Mr. Tucker is not watching the stock markets. Many people in the past have discounted the genius of Elon Musk who is probably the most successful businessman of all time. AI is the tool of his trade. I doubt that Mr. Tucker has any idea how powerful it is in the right hands. Trump’s previous presidential experiences and his ability to self reflect is the anchor we need. Their combined creativity is already strengthening the flaccid markets even though the jobs numbers under Biden have been atrocious. I feel privileged to be able to witness a true reawakening of the Spirit that built American!🇺🇸 We will kick dirt in the faces of the economic Marxists. Watch us!
