Democrats can always be counted on for their performance art at House & Senate hearings. Knowing full well that Special Counsel Robert Hur is part of the partisan swamp and that AG Merrick Garland gave him marching orders to “beat up Biden in your report, but don’t charge him,” House Democrats nevertheless pretended that Hur was a Trump ass kisser. They accused Hur of all manner of villainy. It was quite amusing, but the unflappable Hur stood firmly behind his report. He knew it was all theatrics.
DEJA VU: FBI DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY
Hur’s report reminds me of July 5, 2016, when the corrupt head of the FBI, James Comey, stood at the outside microphone and twisted himself into a pretzel. He explained in detail how, as secretary of state, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had installed and maintained an illegal email server and used it for classified communications.
For at least four years, according to Comey, Clinton daily violated two parts of the National Archives & Records Act as well as the Freedom of Information Act. She admitted same on national television. She put tens of thousands of classified & unclassified documents on an unsecure, illegal server in a downtown Denver apartment.
All who watched his press conference were sure he would recommend prosecution. Here’s where the pretzel comes in: at the end of his remarks he recommended that Clinton not be prosecuted “because no reasonable jury would convict.” He came across as a partisan hack who was campaigning for Clinton during that election year.
IS HUR CAMPAIGNING FOR BIDEN?
Hur’s report lists a massive number of violations of federal statutes stretching back almost 50 years beginning in the 1970s. As senator, Biden repeatedly purloined classified documents from the SCIF* where no one is allowed to remove documents. Indeed, senators & vice presidents are not even allowed to remove notes they took while in the SCIF. Unlike a president, when a vice president leaves office he is not allowed to take any classified documents with him. Such documents were found in eight locations between DC, Virginia and Delaware, including the Biden Penn Center where Chinese officials had access to them.
Yet, Hur recommended that Biden not be prosecuted because “Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview with him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” Hur wrote. Sounds like Comey, except Clinton did not have the senility excuse. NOTE: Biden was not senile when he committed these crimes.
NEWS FLASH
Neither Mr. Hur nor Mr. Comey, in their respective roles, had authority to decide what a jury would or would not do. Their job was to investigate the case, then turn the evidence, testimony and report over to a prosecutor to be presented to a grand jury. It is the role of the grand jury to indict, or not. Period!
It seems the United States has a design flaw; there is apparently no protection against a federal bureaucracy that trades favors with just one political party
