Of course we will, should and must see vigilantism soon. A moral case requiring it exists:

In a self-governing nation, the people are sovereign; government - all parts of government - are our responsibility.

We hire people to make the laws we want (legislators), enforce the laws made in our name (police) and adjudicate law and punishment (courts). To these hirelings we delegate the authority to perform these function for us to keep our self-governing nation safe and prosperous. And, though we delegate authority, responsibility cannot be delegated: it remains in the hands of the people of the self-governing nation.

Policing and courts are parts of government - self-government; they are our responsibility.

When our hirelings refuse the authority delegated to them they put at-risk those who hired them and who retain the responsibility for these functions.

Being responsible for our own government means that we are ultimately responsible for ensuring enforcement of the laws made in our name: if hirelings refuse their delegated authority, citizens MUST accept and act on their responsibility to ensure a safe and prosperous society.

Or we are not a self-governing republic, but a plantation of slaves wandering aimlessly when the master is out.

Thank you. Your article prompted me to put together pertinent thoughts in more detail that I and a few others have been ruminating on for some time.
