I have always had the feeling that it was a phsyop to control and discredit its followers. If not, why weren’t he/they sought by the committee for prosecution? The media mentioned Q frequently, but also never cared about the identity. Rather suspicious, I think.

Kept telling hopeful patriots that they needed to be patient because justice was just about to be served. It was just around the corner. It was just about to break through any moment now. Meanwhile, it continued to get more and more outlandish with its accusations like pizza-gate on steroids. I knew a few people who passionately believed that Q-Anon was real and would not be dissuaded. Of course, plenty of grifters jumped on the bandwagon too, but the original poster didn’t reveal their true identity. But definitely was steering Trump supporters for years through his first term.

Of course you know how the SPLC has a stellar reputation for understanding where conservatives stand on issues. Lol. It looks to me like the Q-Anon phenomenon started around the time of the 2020 election.
