Big Government, Big Media & Big Tech have been working double shifts to censor, block, delete any thought that does not meet with our Overlords’ approval. This is extremely damaging to our Republic; however, a recent Pew Research survey reveals a far more frightening problem.
Pew Research discovered that 70% of Democrats WANT the federal government to shut down free speech/press. SEVENTY PERCENT!!! That begs the question: Do they want Big Government to shut down THEIR speech? Probably not. The typical Democrat voter is self-centered and, thus, assumes only Republicans & Conservatives will be censored. Ha! Be careful what you wish for, Democrats.
DEMOCRATS WANT TO DELETE FREEDOM OF SPEECH/PRESS
Democrats and Left-leaning Independents are much more likely than Republicans and Right-leaning Independents to support the federal government taking steps to restrict “false” information online (70% vs. 39%).
The share of Democrats who support government intervention has grown from 40% in 2018 to 70% in 2023, while the share of Republicans who hold this view has not changed much. There is a similar gap between the shares of Democrats and Republicans who say Big Tech should restrict “false” information online. There was virtually no difference between party members in 2018 when Pew first took this poll.
Just over half of Americans (55%) support the U.S. government taking steps to restrict ”false” information online, even if it limits people from freely publishing or accessing information. Survey respondents were less likely to say that freedom of speech/press should be protected even if it means “false” information can be published (42%).
Support for government intervention has steadily risen since the first time Pew asked this question in 2018. In fact, the balance of opinion has tilted: Five years ago, Americans were more inclined to prioritize freedom of information over restricting “false” information (58% vs. 39%). In addition, the share of American adults who say that tech companies should take steps to restrict “false” information online has increased from 56% in 2018 to 65% in 2023.
HAVE WE LEARNED NOTHING THESE LAST FIVE YEARS?
Support for both Big Tech and Big Government restricting “false” information online has grown in recent years. For example, the share of American adults overall who say the federal government should restrict “false” information has risen from 39% in 2018 to 55% in 2023. The ever-growing Censorship Industry has manipulated and distorted much of our national dialogue these last five years. With this much hatred, how long before our republic collapses?
These figures are all the more bizarre when one recognizes that it was during this same period, 2018-2023, that we discovered the numerous & massive lies, cover-ups, false narratives and scams perpetrated on We The People by Big Media, Big Tech, Big Government & others. To name just a few, see below.
MOST TROUBLING
Americans age 50 and older are more likely than younger adults to say that both Big Tech (68% vs. 62%) and Big Government (58% vs. 52%) should take steps to restrict “false” information online. The share of younger adults who say they support such censorship online has also increased since 2018 (by 14% and 19%, respectively).
I find this data about “older” Americans extremely troubling. These people went through the public school system before they became Marxist indoctrination centers. I am a member of the Baby Boomer Generation. We were taught respect for others and respect for everyone’s right to voice their opinions. Such a high percentage of anti-First Amendment over-50 Americans is shocking. What happened to us?
ONE MAN’S “FALSE” IS ANOTHER MAN’S FACT
I put the word “false” in parentheses throughout this article. To determine what is “false” and what is “fact,” someone must first review the information and then decide if the rest of us should be allowed to see or hear about it. This is called “Marxism.”
Arguing over free speech, for me, is the primary need for secession. It’s not an argument any free people should accept or participate. I have no interest in sharing a neighborhood or a country with anyone opposed to it.
There is little difference between a lie and a “sin of omission.” Instructing children to NOT discuss a “gender” question with parents is a sin of omission. The teachers union seems intent on promoting deceit and is following those effective rules as set down by Germany in the 30’s. The next step is to “turn in” parents for challenging the school board rules. “I vas only following orders!”
