“Knee High By The Fourth Of July.” Any bureaucrat working for the US Department of Agriculture in Washington DC, regardless how high or how low, who does not know what this means, should be fired.
How can someone living in Washington DC know more about agriculture, ranching, et al, than the people who live on and work the land? Have these DC bureaucrats even MET a farmer or rancher?
LOCAL RESIDENTS LOVE THE LAND: MAKE BETTER USDA EMPLOYEES
If re-elected, Trump plans to move more agency headquarters out of the Washington DC area. During his first term, a pair of science agencies in the Agriculture Department relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, a decision that led to a mass exodus of employees (AKA arrogant Swamp creatures) because they did not want to work with & live with the very farmers and ranchers they are regulating. The Trump Administration also moved the Bureau of Land Management to Colorado. The Biden Regime recently announced plans to move the BLM back to the DC Swamp, far away from the land they are overpaid to manage.
“We will continue the effort launched by the Trump administration to move parts of the sprawling federal bureaucracy to new locations outside the Washington swamp . . . And I mean immediately out of Washington to places filled with patriots who love America, and they really do love America,” Trump said in a recent announcement on Rumble.
He also said that if re-elected, he would move to make agency inspectors general “independent and physically separated from the departments they oversee.” Currently, inspectors general are housed in the agencies they oversee which leads to bias in favor of the departments they are supposed to objectively investigate.
“PUBLIC SERVANTS” WILL START SERVING AMERICANS AGAIN
President Trump had to fight the DC Swamp and Deep State his entire tenure. In 2019 I advised him to sign an executive order to move the Department of Agriculture’s headquarters to Iowa, the biggest corn-producing state in the USA.
Or, move it to Texas, the largest beef-producing state in the USA. How about moving the USDA Headquarters to Washington State, the highest apple-producing state? Wheat production? Move USDA HQ to either North Dakota or Kansas. The average man or woman on the street in America’s breadbasket knows more about agriculture, ranching, farming, fruit growing etc. than the average person raised on the East Coast.
The American Midwest is the breadbasket of the United States, if not the world. The people born and raised there know far more about corn, wheat, beef, apples et al than the white-collar paper-pushers in the DC Swamp. And they will not see themselves as superior to farmers, ranchers & other food producers because they identify with their friends & neighbors.
USDA “RURAL DEVELOPMENT OFFICES” IN BIG CITIES! REALLY?
In the 1990s this writer had my law office in an older building in the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon. For those who know nothing about Oregon, allow me to explain: Oregon is replete with all kinds of farms, orchards, vineyards, ranches, etc. who grow & produce way too many products to name here. NOT one of these producers can be found in downtown Portland, yet the USDA Rural Development office was NEXT DOOR TO MY LAW OFFICE.
The great majority of Oregon’s producers are found at least 100 miles away from Portland. Indeed, most rural areas are 200–300 miles from Portland. Why was the so-called “Rural Development” office in a major metropolitan city? Was that because the arrogant bureaucrats refused to “lower” themselves to live in the communities that house the very Americans they are supposed to be helping?* Is that because the DC Swamp is afraid to hire locals who really know what “rural development” is all about?
FOR COASTAL LIBERALS** WHO HAVE NEVER “LOWERED” THEMSELVES TO UNDERSTAND “FLYOVER COUNTRY:”
“Knee High By The Fourth Of July” is a popular American agricultural saying that has been cited in print since at least 1854. If a corn crop has reached the height of a man’s knee by Independence Day, then it is growing well, and should produce a bountiful harvest.
This writer was visiting a corn producing state in the Midwest the last two weeks of June 2019. The corn was ankle high. Locals said it was like that all over the Midwest, due to flooding and other weather patterns they experienced that spring. How many Swamp creatures working in the Department of Agriculture know this? How many even care?
On one hand this is a good move. On the other hand, we know where they are and we know who they are if we keep the Kooks in the Hen House. I once received a letter in response to a complaint I had lodged with the USDA FDA food inspection division, (concerning Prunes purchased from Costco imported from Argentina that were fresh and full of working fruit maggots.) The letter was written by a staff attorney claiming to be a certified Entomologist, out of DC for FDA, informing me that "worms were safe for human consumption". As it turns out he was not educated with any studies of record in his educational history. My complaint was WHY were these Prunes not Inspected by the FDA while the packaging clearly stated they had been inspected. The answer I received from the mental midget was, "the USDA/F&DA 'sells' the label to the importers of foreign produce inorder to expedite shipments."
I am convinced that Federal “employees” are not blatantly stupid, but in time they vegetate due to lack of challenge and learned abject laziness. It appears to be irreversible.
