This makes me truly Sick, our truckers have always been important to our Country, we love them we, need them, and to learn this is going on, is truly vile and evil. Those allowing it are disgraceful, and should go to prison.

Look no further than Gavin Newsom. US DOT asked him to revoke the CDLs of 20,000 illegal aliens, and he refused.

I guess we really need to be more aware when we are driving, especially with the big rigs, sadly our Truckers have always been our hero’s, they bring what we needed, we supported them when they were trying to tear them down, like when they had the big trucker rally. Then here we go again, these lousy self centered democrats giving illegals CDL drivers licenses, they have abused and disrespected our American Truckers. This cannot Stand. These unethical governors , need to be held accountable for these deaths, no wonder our car insurance is so dam high.

Yea that SOB needs to be behind bars

Diane L. Gruber's avatar

The Indian National who killed three in August in Florida had taken the CDL test in Washington State TEN TIMES AND FAILED TEN TIMES and was given the CDL anyway.

Bobby's avatar

Yes and to think we have No Idea who is driving on our highways anymore is a real treat. Be safe lady

Why aren't those who sign off on these obviously illegal (under federal law) CDLs arrested and charged with accessory to homicide? We need to find out who is responsible for these tragedies in these sanctuary states. The trouble is, there's lots of talk but that's all. It's almost as if the Biden DOJ was still on the job.

Excellent question!

After 8 years of Chocolate Jesus and 4 years of MushHead there is a lot of crap to clean up.

If Trump serves this term and 8 more years of MAGA the DOJ will be better

Diane L. Gruber's avatar

I agree! America desperately needs at least 12 years of MAGA, in a row. Minimum.

Yes, but too many jurisdictions give illegals special status, they don't have to obey the law.

Driving on I-5, it’s common to see Sikh drivers in their Burnaby, British Columbia big rigs barreling down the highway. Wonder how many of them are tested annually.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

How the heck are trip permits allowed under the Commerce Clause?

Diane L. Gruber's avatar

They aren't. Inspectors look the other way.

What an eye-opening article from these truckers’ first-hand experiences!

I’ve been digging into this topic since the accident in Florida by the illegal immigrant from India. There are so many tentacles to this subject!

I might have to write several articles covering different angles. It’s too much! 😩

Diane L. Gruber's avatar

Please do! This is my third article about how Biden's newcomers are slaughtering people on our freeways.

Wow! I had no idea! I'd been subscribed to your publication for a long time but realized after seeing your post yesterday that I had not received notifications from you in a long time. Somehow, I was unsubscribed. : ( This has happened to me on at least 10 other occasions. Not sure why Substack does that.

Diane L. Gruber's avatar

I assure you. I did not unsubscribe you. So, you think Substack does that?

FoxyHeterodoxy (Debra C)'s avatar

Yes. Probably a glitch in the system. When someone is “unsubscribed” from multiple accounts, that’s the only explanation—hopefully. This has been happening to me for over a year. I don’t think it is happening on purpose, yet the result is that I have to occasionally go through my MANY reads to make sure that I am still subscribed to all of them. Frustrating, but it is what it is… : )

Hi Diane, I have been following the disastrous policies of the California state government for a few years at least. Missing from these stories about illegal/unlicensed commercial drivers is the story about what CA has done to the trucking industry over the past several years. Rather than try to run this all down to you, I asked AI (Google Gemini) to summarize the respective regulations which have had the most consequence. There is a longer list, but the two most impactful are as follows:

Looks like the cut & paste only stayed in Notes but not on the post itself. But here you go. If you're interested in the other parts of the response, I can copy those over as well, if you'd like.

🔥 Most Dramatic Impact on the Industry

While all these regulations have a significant impact, two stand out for their dramatic, industry-wide consequences:

A. CARB's Emission Regulations (Specifically the Truck and Bus Rule and ZEV Mandates)

Why it's Dramatic: The mandate to replace older trucks with new 2010 or newer engines (and the long-term ZEV transition) represents a massive capital expenditure for fleet owners and owner-operators.

Consequence: Small fleets and independent owner-operators face high costs for new compliant trucks (often hundreds of thousands of dollars) or ZEVs (which are even more expensive and require new infrastructure), pushing many out of the California market entirely. This has accelerated the turnover of the state's truck fleet and created major supply chain uncertainty.

B. Assembly Bill 5 (AB 5)

Why it's Dramatic: AB 5 threatens the core owner-operator business model that has been the backbone of American trucking, particularly at ports and in local/regional hauling.

Consequence: It forces carriers to either convert their independent contractor drivers to full employees (which increases labor costs, including benefits, taxes, and overtime) or completely change their operational model. This has led to protests, lawsuits, and an exodus of owner-operators from the state, directly impacting the capacity of the California market and disrupting supply chains at key locations like the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

WOW! I’ve always appreciated our truck drivers as some of the most considerate & helpful drivers on the roads! They used turn signals AND respected the speed limits.

As a matter of fact they were the ONLY other drivers on the roads covered with blue ice when a family emergency had me moving ASAP from CA to NY to be able to help my mother fighting cancer in PA! I considered truck drivers to be angels helping me safely cross the nation under wickedly dangerous driving conditions over 40 y ago!

I appreciate this article outlining how very corrupted many once legitimate trucking firms have become!

Fraudulently licensed drivers have scared me off the highways! Sean Duffy please HELP ERADICATE this quite hazardous travesty! GO MAGA!

We just drove 1400 miles, from South Dakota to Washington State. We saw several big rig drivers with turbans on their heads. They could be legals, could be illegals, could speak English, or could not. We did not hear them speaking. Check out tomorrow's article. Lowering safety standards in the name of DEI has caused this.

Anne Wrona's avatar

Glad you safely made your journey! Key may be driving ONLY in daylight hours so one can truly get the big picture: big rig approaching, turbaned driver, pass with wide girth…? Also to be aware of those approaching from behind! Would be impossible at night?! Stay safe!

Diane L. Gruber's avatar

Awh, I did not think of that. At night we are safely in our motel room.

You sound like smart travelers.
