TEEN LEADER OF JOHN BIRCH CHAPTER DRAFTS BILL TO BAN DIGITAL CURRENCY
Just One Freedom Fighter Can Have HUGE Impact
Before the federal government can wipe out our precious Bill of Rights, outlaw cash and install government-controlled digital currency run by ONE centralized federal bank, each state must first redefine “money” in their Uniform Commercial Code.
This year alone such legislation has been proposed in 20 states, including South Dakota where it passed both houses only to be vetoed by Governor Kristi Noem. Republican Noem was the Bill of Rights hero in South Dakota, but 19-year-old Dakota Sawyer was the hero in Ohio, trying to preserve freedom for his fellow citizens.
SAWYER’S BILL WILL BAN CBDC IN OHIO
Dakota Sawyer is a John Birch Society chapter leader in Brunswick, Ohio. He taught himself the legislative process in his state and took action to stop implementation of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) by banning it, instead of waiting for Democrats to change the UCC’s definition of “money,” which is happening in some states.
First, Sawyer set up a private meeting between Ohio State Representative Jennifer Gross and Alex Newman, senior editor for The John Birch Society’s magazine, The New American, to review how CBDC severely threatens individual freedom and privacy. Then, Sawyer and Gross drafted legislation to ban CBDCs within Ohio’s borders. They also met with key members of the Ohio House & Senate. Sawyer worked with JBS’s headquarters to ensure the bill he was drafting was as strong as possible.
To get ahead of the Deep State’s desire to outlaw cash, on May 1, 2023 Representative Gross and eight other representatives introduced HB163, designed to amend Ohio’s definition of “money” to exclude CBDCs “issued by the United States federal reserve system, a federal agency, a foreign government, a foreign central bank, or a foreign reserve system.”
On May 5, 2023 Sawyer organized a conference in the Ohio Statehouse to promote HB163. This meeting was designed to highlight involvement of The John Birch Society in protecting freedom for Ohio residents, and to handle any pushback. There was no pushback, however, and JBS was well received. JBS members are now holding town halls throughout Ohio to educate citizens about the dangers of CBDCs and help advance HB163.
HB163 was referred to the House Financial Institutions Committee where it must get a hearing and pass by a majority vote before moving forward in the legislative process. If passed, this legislation would ban the use of CBDC as money under the UCC, and includes a section discussing how the legislation might play out in practice.
Although his bill has not yet been debated on the Ohio House floor, Dakota Sawyer, nineteen years old, has proven how much just one patriot can do to protect the Bill of Rights for everyone in his state.
Good Job, but damn.
