Murray-Smiley Race For Washington’s Senate Seat-Part I
Dear Readers: While preparing for the Murray-Smiley senate debate, I began my research of both candidates. I had planned to write one article centered around their debate performances; but, Murray has a THIRTY-YEAR voting record and Smiley has never run for public office. Each deserved an article. Long time Washingtonians have a pretty good idea who Patty Murray is and how she votes in the Senate. Marketing herself as a “mom in tennis shoes,”* she first won election to the US Senate in 1992, when Bill Clinton beat George H. W. Bush for the presidency.
This writer is focusing on Murray’s position and attitude toward the pre-born** BECAUSE she focuses on it. She re-iterated her love affair with abortion*** during Sunday’s debate in Spokane, and recently told the Olympian newspaper that it is HER foremost issue:
“A woman’s right to make her own healthcare choices” is at the top of her list. “We should never compromise on legislation and allow politicians to make that choice for her,” Murray said. “That is a principle I strongly believe in.”
PRINCIPLES? PRINCIPLES?
Murray’s “principles” showed no interest in feeding babies who managed to make it out of the birth canal. As Chairwoman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pension (HELP) Committee, Senator Murray has oversight over the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and did NOTHING for three months after the FDA shut down the Abbott baby formula plant in February (due to bacteria in some batches of formula).
Formula manufacturers knew immediately how bad the shortage would become because Abbott was a major producer of baby formula. Murray did nothing about the developing shortage, abdicating her responsibilities as the US Senator in charge of the FDA. She could have used her position to mitigate the shortage by pushing the FDA to relax regulations, incentivize the other manufacturers to increase production, and/or forcing the FDA to help the Abbott plant re-open faster. She did nothing.
Planned Parenthood, Inc., expecting fewer abortion clients in some of their clinics, has adopted a new marketing plan: mutilating the perfect bodies of “older babies” as young as 8 years old. Had this American been the debate moderator, I would have asked both candidates if they supported “remodeling” perfect, healthy little bodies. When Senator Murray visited Spokane’s Planned Parenthood Clinic in July was she aware they had pivoted into transgendering the next generation?
JOINED AT THE HIP WITH BIDEN, MURRAY SUPPORTS ALL INFLATION-CREATING POLICIES
At a time when policies Murray supported have robbed Americans of their savings and decreased their ability to put ALL food stuffs on the table, Murray fusses over the fact that SOME states, not Washington State, may enact laws restricting termination of the pre-born, showing how small-minded she is.
During the first 21 months of the Biden Administration, Senator Murray has voted for virtually every one of Biden’s America-Last policies, including all tax & spend legislation that ensures inflation continues:
Infrastructure & Jobs Act of 2021: Only 11% will be spent on infrastructure and most will wind up in the hands of Biden’s corporate cronies via the climate change hoax. Passed a year ago, it has only created a handful of jobs. During the debate Murray repeated her support for the climate change scam being used as an excuse to destroy the middle class.
Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 ensures the recession continues into 2025 & beyond and funds 87K armed IRS agents to audit those earning less than $75K. During the debate Murray insisted this legislation would reduce inflation, when over 230 economists say just the opposite.
*Murray had two teenagers at the time she ran for the US Senate; but, this misnomer implied she was ONLY a “mom.” The fact was that she had been climbing the Democrat ladder in Washington State for at least a decade before running for the US Senate.
** Murray repeatedly voted AGAINST: The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (also colloquially known as Micah's Law) is a congressional bill that would, in most cases, make it unlawful to perform an abortion if the estimated post-fertilization age of a fetus is 20 weeks or more. The bill is based upon the assertion that a fetus is capable of feeling pain during an abortion at and after that point in a pregnancy. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act was first introduced in Congress in 2013. It successfully passed the House of Representatives in 2013, 2015, and 2017. The bill has twice received a majority of votes in the Senate, but has failed to reach the 60 votes required to break a filibuster.
***Murray is obsessed with wiping out each generation. As recently as May 11, 2022, she voted to provide MORE tax dollars for abortions (S. 4132).
One wonders if Patty Murray also wishes to throw her own children on the funeral pyre that is abortion and child mutilation, or if it’s just the “great unwashed” of the rest of us?
