SecDef Hegseth: Back To Hemorrhoids, Flat Feet & Military Readiness

Over a dozen young men stood naked in a row as the doctor bellowed “bend over and spread your cheeks.”  The doctor walked around, carefully peering at each anus.  After he looked at the ninth man’s anus, he straighten up and yelled “external piles, you are out!”

Such minor medical problems as hemorrhoids (external piles) and flat feet used to keep a new recruit out of the military.  The military did not want a recruit that was not healthy enough to go into battle.  Moreover, they did not want the expense of caring for the new recruit’s medical problems.  After all, men taking female hormones, women taking male hormones and/or people who have had major genital and urology surgery have major medical problems.

Obama, in his continuing efforts to damage the military, ignored generations-long military wisdom and turned military readiness upside down by allowing enlistment of people with major medical problems.

IN HIS FINAL DAYS, OBAMA FURTHER WEAKENED MILITARY

July 2016 Obama’s Defense Secretary Ashton Carter announced he was changing Pentagon policy: “Today I am announcing that we’re ending the ban on transgender Americans in the United States military.  Effective immediately, transgender Americans may serve openly, and they can no longer be discharged or otherwise separated from the military just for being transgender.”

Carter went on to say:  “Additionally, I have directed that the gender identity of an otherwise qualified individual will not bar them from military service or from any accession program.”

Social justice will surely scare ISIS into taking off their suicide vests.

NO ONE HAS A “RIGHT” TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY

In 2016, Center for Military Readiness President Elaine Donnelly said allowing transgendered people to serve “is a terrible decision for military readiness.  For the Department of Defense to focus on a tiny, tiny, minority and disregard the concerns of the majority of people in the armed forces is more than irresponsible.”

The military exists to defend America PERIOD.  The military does NOT exist to push a social or political agenda.  You cannot mandate military leaders to deny reality.  You cannot teach subordinates to deny reality, especially when dealing with sexual privacy, without NEGATIVE consequences.

TRUMP 45 RETURNED TO MILITARY SANITY

President Donald Trump released an executive order in March 2018 banning most transgender troops from serving in the military except under ‘‘limited circumstances,’’ following up on his calls in 2017 to ban transgender individuals from serving. The White House said retaining troops with a history or diagnosis of ‘‘gender dysphoria’’ (those who require substantial medical treatment) ‘‘presents considerable risk to military effectiveness and lethality.’’

‘‘This new policy will enable the military to apply well-established mental and physical health standards, including those regarding the use of medical drugs, equally to all individuals who want to join and fight for the best military force the world has ever seen,’’ WH Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.

The presidential memorandum also bans the Department of Defense from using its resources to provide medical treatment regimens, which are required for the rest of the transgendered person’s life. In addition, President Trump directed the departments of Defense and Homeland Security "to determine how to address transgender individuals currently serving based on military effectiveness and lethality, unitary cohesion, budgetary constraints, applicable law, and all factors that may be relevant."

"After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military," Trump said in a series of tweets. "Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail."

BIDEN CONTINUES WEAKENING MILITARY STRENGTH

As he did with virtually all of Trump’s executive orders, five days after he was sworn in, Joe Biden signed an executive order overturning Trump’s ban on the service of transgender individuals in the military. "America is stronger, at home and around the world, when it is inclusive," states a White House news release. "The military is no exception."

The work Defense Secretary, Lloyd J. Austin III, fully supported President Biden's decision. In a written statement he said that all transgender individuals "who wish to serve in the United States military and can meet the appropriate standards shall be able to do so openly and free from discrimination."  Of course, the standards had to be lowered in order for soldiers with such medical and psychiatric problems to qualify.

"The United States armed forces are in the business of defending our fellow citizens from our enemies, foreign and domestic," Austin said. "I believe we accomplish that mission more effectively when we represent all our fellow citizens. I also believe we should avail ourselves of the best possible talent in our population, regardless of gender identity. We would be rendering ourselves less fit to the task if we excluded from our ranks people who meet our standards and who have the skills and the devotion to serve in uniform."

Biden’s White House news release said "Prospective recruits may serve in their self-identified gender when they have met the appropriate standards for accession into the military services." The policy also ensured that tax money would used for all genital & urological surgeries, cross sex hormones, and various other medical & psychiatric services. It wasn’t clear if that included cosmetic surgery on faces, necks, beards, hairlines, Adam’s apples, etc.

MILITARY READINESS VS SOCIAL JUSTICE

This writer has been listening to the arguments being made by the transgender activists for close to a decade now.  I have yet to hear anyone explain how recruiting transgender men and women will improve military readiness.  Indeed, all the arguments in favor of it center around “social justice” and “fairness” themes.  Social justice will surely scare ISIS into taking off their suicide vests.

Based on remarks he has made as well as books he has written, it seems certain that Trump’s Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, will re-instate the ban on transgendered individuals serving in the military.
