Installing Delusions Into Census Questions

It was not enough for the US Census Bureau, knee deep in the muck & mire that is the DC Swamp, to commit fraud while assigning congressional seats following the 2020 census [SEE BELOW], but now they are demanding taxpayer money to push the Delusional Left’s woke agenda.

In its fiscal year 2023 budget request to Congress, the Census Bureau insisted they needed $10 million to study how best to word a question for the survey asking Americans about their gender identity. [How many Americans can be fed on $10 million?] Yes, 10 MILLION DOLLARS to figure out how to ask the American people the most delusional question they have ever had on the census. Give me ten dollars and I will write the question for them: “If you are delusional enough to believe there are more than two genders, check this box.”

MAKING DELUSIONS INTO FEDERAL POLICY

The Census Bureau’s proposed change to the census questions would ask about both someone’s sex “assigned at birth” as well as asking for someone’s “current gender.” That question would give the options of “Male, Female, Transgender, Nonbinary,” and “This person uses a different term” with an option to fill in the blank. This asinine question would only go to respondents that are at least 15 years old.

“One such emerging need of our Nation is to improve the measurement of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) population,” the budget request said. “Improving how we collect data about sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations is a critical step in producing accurate data.”

Emerging need to measure sexual orientation and gender identity? Why? To what end? How does the DC Swamp plan to use this information? When & how did THAT become the business of the federal government? How soon will they start using this data to hurt Americans? Will they be stealing even more tax dollars from the earners and giving it to SOGI people?

Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and JD Vance, (R-OH) sent a letter to the Census Bureau Director Robert Santos calling on him to rescind its plan to incorporate a gender identity and sexuality questions to the American Community Survey, which goes to more than 3.5 million Americans each year. [Say what? Our constitution requires census surveys every ten years.] The Senators argue that this will hurt what is left of this agency’s credibility in the eyes of the American people. Moreover, why does Santo have more authority than the US Constitution?

“Biology determines gender, not subjective belief, and the bureau should not jeopardize the legitimacy of crucial statistical information by endorsing unscientific and untrue concepts like gender identity,” the letter said. “For generations, the American people have looked to the U.S. Census as an unbiased, authoritative source describing the objective reality of life in America. It is not worth sacrificing this trust to advance controversial social ideas through government surveys.”

The Bureau’s budget request also suggests changes could be coming to questions about race. The federal agency said in its budget request it wants to innovate “for new questions relating to sexual orientation, gender identity, and intersexuality and/or potential modifications to the race and ethnicity questions.” Innovate Race? “Intersexuality” is another word created out of whole cloth to further divide Americans.

“The Census Bureau has been completely co-opted into the grievance-mongering industry, providing it with the data the industry needs to push the ‘oppressor/oppressed’ narrative,” according to Mike Gonzalez, an expert at the Heritage Foundation. “What’s more, this information relates to synthetic categories that the Census took a lead in creating in the first place! Among these are faux ethnic groups like Hispanics or Asian-Americans, created in 1977. The Census now wants to add categories based on gender identity, in a question that will be asked of children as young as 15. It’s time for the administrative state to stop contributing to the division of our country into identity groups,” Gonzalez added.

Keep in mind: The US Constitution requires counting of heads every ten years for one purpose and one purpose only, apportionment of Congressional Districts. This is necessary so that 1) every district has approximately the same number of residents and 2) to properly assign electoral college votes to each state. Period!

Our Founding Fathers did not create the census and enshrine it in the constitution so that the DC Swamp could count toilets in your house and explore your sex life.
