There were four Butler Township police officers who were handling traffic control, OUTSIDE the rally venue, on July 13th. When they heard there was a man on the roof of a building near the stage, they rushed in. One officer cupped his hands to hoist up the other officer. The assassin pointed his rifle at the officer as he peered above the gutter, causing the officer to quickly jump to the ground.
Investigators believe that this event, wherein the shooter knew he had been caught, caused him to fire sooner than he had intended. This rush to shoot may have saved Trump’s life as the shooter had little time to scope out the best shot. Give those two unnamed, small town police officers medals!
Yeah I totally agree with this theory and have from the outset. By disturbing Crooks that cop changed what could have been a calm, focused, unhurried shot from a prepared stance, to a hasty shot from a hasty stance by a shooter who was probably very nervous.
I was also very annoyed at people who tried to blame these two guys. What was he supposed to do exactly as he faced a rifle at point blank range with no hands free? He did the right thing - dropped to the floor and called it into the radio net urgently with as much detail as possible. The guy is the hero of the hour.
I heard about that, and the local chief of police defended him for getting down from the roof instead of getting shot. But NOWHERE did I hear that he reported this until after Trump was shot.
He should have gotten down and started hollering "GUN!" or "SHOOTER ON THIS ROOF!" as loudly as possible! He didn't.
