Under Trump, GOP Has Become The Champion Of Working People

“In this Capitol behind me, I served as both Senate Democratic Caucus chair and the Senate majority leader. But today I say goodbye. Adios! I’ve had enough,” Gloria Romero said.

Last week, the former California Democrat Senate Majority Leader (and the first woman to hold this powerful position) followed the recent example of Democrat State Senator Maria Alvarado-Gil and changed her party affiliation to Republican. In a press conference, Romero fully embraced GOP Party leader Donald Trump, as well as former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whom she called a “personal hero” and whom she acknowledged the Democrat establishment elites cheated out of the party’s presidential nomination.

SHE DIDN’T LEAVE DEMOCRAT PARTY, DEMOCRAT PARTY LEFT HER

The newly minted Republican went on to detail her reasoning: Crime, gender identity, COVID-19 lockdowns, gas stoves, school choice, the latter of which she cited as a moment she began to see the “writing on the wall” in 2009 & 2010. That is when many realized the DC Swamp was dominated by the corrupt Uniparty, and started the Tea Party movement, which corrupt Obama illegally stopped.] Romero, who was a California delegate for presidential candidates Jesse Jackson and Barack Obama, and who listed Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy, Sr. as household heroes, told assembled media that “this is not the Democratic Party that I once championed. I do not recognize it anymore and I cannot continue.”

Romero said she will vote for Trump in November and that she would happily work for his campaign if asked. Romero’s alignment with the GOP didn’t happen out of the blue. In 2021, she prominently endorsed conservative talk show host Larry Elder’s campaign to replace Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom in the failed recall election. Romero served as California State Senator from 2001 to 2010, and she spent three of those years (2005 to 2008) as the Senate majority leader. She was the first woman ever to hold that position.

GOP VOTER REGISTRATIONS EXCEEDING DEMOCRATS’

Romero’s announcement follows three straight voter registration cycles in California wherein Republicans gained and Democrats lost ground. On August 9th, it was announced that Republicans have once again increased their share of registered voters in every Assembly, State Senate, and congressional districts, and all 58 counties. This, according to the Democrat California Secretary of State’s first voter registration report update since February.

Both Gloria Romero and Robert Kennedy Jr. said the Democratic Party is not the same party they each once championed. “I do not recognize it anymore, and I cannot continue,” Romero said. “I changed my voting registration today as the sun was rising to Republican, which has, under Donald Trump, become the champion of working people . . . and indeed, I will vote for Donald Trump this fall.”
